Dakota DC3 Model Airplane
Dimensions: 25.5"Long, With a 38.25"Wingspan
Weight: 5 lbs
The Douglas DC-3 is a twin-engine, low wing monoplane that was first flown in 1935. It was one of the most successful commercial planes ever.
It had many names, including Skytrain, C-47, R4D, Dakota, Gooney Bird, and many others. During WWII, it was made in various conformations. A large plane, the 95 foot wingspan undoubtedly contributed to its low takeoff speed.
A favorite among pilots, it was easy to fly, comfortable, and forgiving. It stalled at 67 mph, cruised at 185, and had a range of 1500-2100 miles.
By the time production ended in 1945, more than 13,000 of them had been built. Many are still flying today.
Certainly one of the most iconic airplanes ever made, the wonderful Douglas DC-3.
Our model does it justice by faithfully recreating it in a large model with a 38.25 inch wingspan, aluminum skin, and attention to detail that will amaze you.
